The aim of this seminar is to introduce the main mathematical tools behind the implementation of symmetric ciphers in the context of lightweight cryptography.
Particular attention will be paid to finite fields, their construction and their representation with respect to different bases.
Furthermore, the fundamental constituent of the linear layers of modern block ciphers, i.e., MDS matrices, are analyzed.
