LIM - Music Informatics Laboratory
LIM - Music Informatics Laboratory was established in 1985 by its founder, Goffredo Haus. LIM activities concern ICT applications in music and in the cultural heritage; main topics are: definition of formal methods for music information describing and processing; definition and applications of the multilayer IEEE 1599 standard; music (audio, video, images, scores, any other items) archives management, preserving, and restoring; symbolic music information recognition from audio.
LIM has carried out many research projects; it is worth to cite the most relevant partners: Teatro alla Scala of Milan, Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow, IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Standards Association, NASA Charles Ames Research Center, Ricordi Historic Archives, Leipzig Bach Archive, RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, RTSI RadioTelevisione Svizzera italiana, Orchestra Verdi (Milan), CNR Italian National Research Council, and the Italian Ministry for Cultural Heritage. Besides, LIM has worked with a number of recording industries, broadcasting companies, editors, software houses, internet companies, music producers and music instruments manufacturing industries.
