The Department of Computer Science is part of the University of Milan, a public, multidisciplinary teaching and research institution that operates since the beginning of the twentieth century and offers 8 Faculties, 2 Schools, 136 study courses, 21 Doctoral Schools and 71 Specialisation Schools.

A leading institute in Italy and Europe for scientific productivity, the University of Milan is the largest university in the region, with approximately 65,000 students; also it is an important resource for the socio-economic context of which it is a part.
